I don't think this adequately grappled with one reality: many of the people wailing about cancel culture will defend people not on classical liberalism grounds, but because the person they are defending said things that upset people they don't like (i.e., to own the libs) [1/2]pic.twitter.com/11KBqXGZPd
You don't see any classical liberalism when those same people try to get professors fired for expression that offends conservatives or in other permutations of conservative cancelation. Maybe some act in good faith, but by and large it's just another partisan weapon. [2/2]
Of course that's not restricted to the right. The left also hypocritically complains about the same things they themselves do.
I mean, the left today are the cultural censors they've been railing against since my parents were born.
