The world is very quickly accepting "same-sex unions" and the upcoming generations are going to walk away from religions that continue to take this kind of stand against those who have, as religions like to say, 'same-sex attractions.' And they only have the power you give them.https://twitter.com/AP/status/1371426053319708681 …

Plus there really isn’t even a mechanism for the Catholic Church to change a dogma like this without losing all of its credibility. It’s entire reason for existing would collapse if it suddenly said it’d been wrong about doctrine for 2,000 years.

Plus there isn’t a shortage of woke Protestant churches to go to if that’s your thing.

Yes, but the history of Christianity changes based on how we interpret writings as our knowledge advances. There's a vast difference between a very fundamentalist religion and one that is more 'liberal/progressive' in their teachings, but both would claim to believe in Christ.

A long time ago the Catholic Church would arrest people for publicly rejecting scripture that held the earth as the center of the universe. More recently the Church played a major role in developing the big bang theory and endorses evolution. The Church can change on this too.

But didn’t the church use this same true-test logic when they first rejected the theory of evolution?

Is a strict prohibition against gay marriage/relationships a core teaching of Jesus? Or a teaching at all? I understand there are references, but is it in any way foundational? (See also, divorce/annulments)
