The world is very quickly accepting "same-sex unions" and the upcoming generations are going to walk away from religions that continue to take this kind of stand against those who have, as religions like to say, 'same-sex attractions.' And they only have the power you give them.https://twitter.com/AP/status/1371426053319708681 …

Maybe, but there's a collision course coming on this stuff where you have the hardliners who want to maintain a more fundamental set of standards vs the more progressive members who don't view it as literally true, but morally good.
-
The history of the Christian faith is full of collisions between the people who believed and the people who did not. Adhering to the faith when it is unfashionable, unpopular, even dangerous is the true test of whether you joined a church or a social club.

More people will leave the hypocritical institutions than the ones that actually stick to their word.

If you believe in the divine nature of the bible, how can you change it? Orthodox Jews grow while other streams lose people to assimilation. I assume the same for Christianity. You may say you are not fully observant. Who is? But you can't abrogate laws you don't like.
-
In a secular world, the people you'd lose over one unfashionable orthodoxy will sooner or later be lost over another one. The ones you lose because you stopped believing in your own creed? Those are the people you cannot survive without. Parties need majorities. Churches don't.

But also don't you think that the Christian right's (both Catholics and Protestants) acceptance of Trump specifically and the hard right in general hurts them and their message? Because there was a time that the Catholic Church was called "the Democratic Party at prayer."
-
The Catholic Church generally only agrees with the modern GOP on abortion. And the modern conservative movement was founded by Goldwater, who was strongly pro-choice. So the GOP becoming staunchly pro-life was mostly a ploy to steal Catholics and Southern whites from the Dems.

Which is why every Christian around the world keeps kosher and is circumcised.

Do you honestly not know that these are things that were specifically dealt with by the first century church and that are explicitly dealt with in scripture?
