I favor legal immigration. Population growth is good. Bringing in hungry people, especially those with skills, is good. Why? Is there evidence foreigners are uniquely vectors of transmission? If the problem is travellers from abroad, why not also Americans traveling internationally? If you were really concerned, you'd push for mandatory quarantines and negative tests prior to travel.
