The thing is, we haven't had a president who was popularly elected & narrowly defeated since Cleveland. (Ford lost narrowly, but had never won.) And also just as a clarification, you've only had one popularly elected President in the last 30 years...period. One would think this trend would be more worthy of handwringing than 1 term precedent, especially given the unprecedented nature of everything Trump plus Covid.
