I thought I was the only Bowie fan who has Absolute Beginners rated that high. Gotta be the full-length version though. The single edit gutted it.

I've traditionally been more of a "Bowie greatest hits" guy than a fan, but the podcast & some help from Jeff on the BBC stuff did sell me on more of his work, esp the early 70s stuff. Absolute Beginners is gold.

No Life on Mars?

Hunky Dory is overall shortchanged. Queen Bitch is not close to the best track on Hunky Dory. As great as Bowie's whole career was, ground zero is Hunky Dory/Ziggy Stardust/Aladdin Sane, all released within 17 months between Dec. '71 - April '73.

It's hard to argue against Space Oddity as his very best song, and there were so many great ones.
