As usual with tribal appeals of this nature, observe the complete & total absence of discussion of (1) government policy on any issue or (2) Democrats' approach to constitutional governance, civil liberties, or other crucial elements of the classical-liberal order.https://twitter.com/Timodc/status/1363981287598354432 …

Well I wrote an article about this topic that discussed policy at length!https://thebulwark.com/the-trade-meet-the-new-red-dog-democrats/ …

This is basically written as a brief to Democrats on what you think they can get away with to keep voters who came to them via tribal dislike of the white working class, rather than a sincere argument re what Democrats actually offer.

Lol. Yes Dan, it’s hatred of the white working class that caused this. Couldn’t possibly be the absolutely unconscionable choices of Republicans in installing a bigoted wannabe autocrat that drove these people away! They are the baddies!

That's all that remains, with Trump out of office & the opportunity to check Biden & fight within the GOP to move on from Trump. There is certainly - and you make no effort to dispute this - nothing on offer from Democrats on policy that would attract a 2012-era Republican voter.

No. This completely missed that the Republican Party is so laughably corrupt and lost that the choices boil down to "Democracy? Or no?" There's your appeal to 2012 Republicans.

But with the Democrats, you don't get democracy. You get "living constitution" judges & insulated administrative agencies & efforts to strangle free political speech. The GOP's problems would be fixed if Trump was hit by a meteor tomorrow. The Ds' run to the core of their ideas.

This is more insidious than the typical anti-anti routine that simply ignores Trump's many manifest failures of character and competence. Instead, you acknowledge them, then say "but despite all that Biden and the libs are even worse." No. They really aren't!

The question here is what happens when Republicans run someone who lacks Trump's character flaws, & Democrats still have the flaws of their ideology & institutions that are permanent, ingrained features of the party.

That would be an interesting hypothetical; however, you know better than me that the '24 nominee will either be Trump himself, or else one of his disciples like Hawley. I wish it weren't so and we had a GOP that ran on ideas instead of Trump-worship rank and hatred of liberals
