Yeah, I think this criticism is misguided. It also happens to be that the countries that are suffering the most from the pandemic are mostly first world countries - Brazil is probably the biggest exception. That said, vaccinating the whole world is essential to limit mutations.

I also think that there has to be some question as to the accuracy of how much the virus has affected some of our less organized nations. I'm not sure the Central African Republic has as rigorous of a testing regime as let's say, Belgium.

It baffles me, too. Developed countries (wealthier, if you will) always produce these things first. Of course we should vaccinate poorer countries, but it's like the physicians: get them first, then help those at most risk.

Also, I keep thinking about when you are on an airplane and they tell you if the oxygen mask comes down, put it on yourself and then help others. You can’t help others if you yourself are drowning. We need to be strong so we can then reach out to help others. Not a hard concept.
