Going on vacation while the people who put you in the office are suffering just looks bad. Does he need to be in Texas? no, but stay in Washington or something.

His voters are dying. He could help, like Beto is. So yeah, there are rational reasons.

I’m sure there are plenty of things he could be doing in Texas right now to help his fellow Texans….like he did during hurricane Harvey.

Exactly. No president needs to see storm damage in person, no congressman needs to hand out water in a shelter after an earthquake. Cruz can’t turn the power on, but this is terrible politics.

My d rep is urging us to call her office to get help. My d mayor is getting generators to hospitals. The guy who saves you money on mattresses sheltered 100s last night. My r gov is blaming aoc and my r senators are trolling or hitting the beach. What party should I vote for?

Agree - I never think in a time of crisis, “Send us a legislator,” but it sure does look bad.

You are right. He should be in Washington where he can help coordinate a Federal response to the worst natural disaster to hit our state in 100 years. This is one of the few times he could actually be helpful

I think the big 2018 Texas Senate election take-away was that Texas GOP voters wanted Sen. Cruz to carry water for Donald Trump. So if Trump isn't worried about the power loss, then Ted doesn't have to be.
