"Pop" & "soda" are both perfectly good abbreviations for "soda pop." What's indefensible is calling all of it, regardless of brand or flavor, "coke."

I was in 5th grade the first time I heard someone call it pop. Honest to God, it took him like 2 solid minutes and repeating it 5 or 6 times. "I had an orange pop." "What?" repeat

Yeah, this is like watching the Taliban and Al Qaeda fight. They are both wrong and I'm just hopeful that at the end, they'll recognize the error of their ways and start calling it Coke.
