      Yeah, I don't envy anyone in that situation. I was just struck by the interview of the officer who could have shot but didn't. It struck me as an incredibly wise decision -- and one I don't know I would have been able to make myself.

      They're terrible choices. My dad was very happy to retire without ever having to fire his weapon in anger.

          Yup. Everyone who says it's easy should have the experience of talking to a cop who has discharged his weapon. I've had that discussion it many times -- in cases where gangsters pulled guns on and/or shot at cops. It's a very big deal to them.

          Last 2 years of my dad's career were spent going to the scene & writing up reports of every weapons discharge in the Bronx. Which was a lot of them.
