Senators should, and likely will, mostly make up their own minds - and nearly all 100 of them already had before the trial started. That said, it is natural & human to react to how the two sides make their case.https://twitter.com/adamwinkler/status/1359581548660465667 …

So you'd acquit just because you don't like the prosecutors? No concern for what the just and moral result should be, just homerism and continued fellation for Trump?
-
I fully believe you just described what happened at the OJ Simpson trial. The prosecution kept the jury sequestered (let's call it imprisoned) for over a year for a trial that should have taken 3 weeks. They ran a circus and the jury wasn't having it.

"smarm & rhetorical overreaching" - you mean when they lay out the facts in detail? What overreaching has there been? Did Trump, for months, lie about the election?

Wow. That’s a hell of a take. “Sure, Trump should be convicted, but I find dems presenting the overwhelming evidence in the case “smarmy” and “overreaching,” so I feel completely justified in voting to acquit. FFS, that really is pathetic.

Note they didn’t name managers who had needed to persuade any appreciable number of Republicans to win their own elections
