And you are very trusting of the other side who banned people from going to church for a year. Sorry, man. I’m out.

There is no reason whatsoever to think I trust those people. Hell, I just wrote a piece on that very issue! But I believe - do you? - that there are voters & prospective voters in the United States other than hard-shell leftists & diehard personal loyalists of Donald J. Trump.

Sure. Like 90%. But there’s no you on the other side, Dan. That’s the problem.

On the other side? No. In the middle? Yes, there are people you can win over, people who will flock to your banner for a day, if not for every season. The kinds of people Lincoln & Reagan recruited to their causes.

No. I’m asking a very specific question. What public figure who is a Democrat will slam them the way you slam Republicans? Sullivan? Maybe Taibbi? But there’s a lot more of us willing to throw our own under the bus. I’m done with that.

See, we used to be able to walk into a room & tell people that we hold ours to account, they don't, & that's why you should join us. That's a big part of how we won the 2000 election. Trump burned that down. Why help him do that? Why tell people "join us, we're the same as them!"

Because since 2000 boys can now be girls because they think they are, you are a racist if you don’t judge people by their skin color, and nothing should be named after Washington. I respect you a lot. I’m going to fight differently than you do.

The question is, which way, Dan’s or yours, will win more people to our side? The disagreement here is on tactics. In order to fight the things you mentioned, we have to ADD people to our coalition. “Trump or die” won’t be able to do that. It can’t be a rush to the bottom.

Except Dan’s way has lost the culture war for two decades. What are we trying to win? Trade deals and tax cuts? I don’t care.

This is false. You think we've lost the culture wars by too much standing for principles rather than imitating the other side & communicating that we're just the same as them?

Consider: how do you attract adherents to a church: by standing for immutable, permanent things, or by trying to be like the devil because he's popular?
