Ben Sasse tells it like it is. And he does so from a position of strength compared to unelected party functionaries.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jCnUHNeTkg&amp%3Bfeature=youtu.be&amp%3Butm_source&amp%3Butm_campaign&amp%3Butm_medium&amp%3Butm_term&amp%3Butm_content …

Sasse has alienated too many people to be a viable presidential candidate any time soon, but that's fine. The nation needs principled people in the Senate, too.

I’m sorry but up until he won re-election was he not almost entirely silent on a whole variety of topics we all know he had strong opinions on? The President was acting like a child on a regular basis and the guy who wrote a book about maturity issues had nothing to say?

He also made numerous unprincipled votes to retain his seat by avoiding a primary. Mitt Romney has principles, Ben Sasse does not.

I wish he were less concerned w whether Trump-worship is "conservative" or not, and more concerned w whether it is reasonable, honest, healthy, good for the country, etc. Overall, though, well worth watching.

He was addressing people who consider themselves conservative -- that's why he kept pounding that message. He's made it abundantly clear that Trump-worship is bad for the country.

@baseballcrank I'm a big Ben Sasse Fan. Easily one of my favorite senators. I am still baffled at his vote though not to overturn Trump's emergency declaration on the wall. Seemed like an easy decision from a "separation of powers" perspective. Afraid of a primary back then?

Serious question, why are you a big Sasse fan? Even if you like his assorted political musings, as far as being a Senator, he has really not done anything of note. I mean, he's written more books than authored legislation.

I applaud him for his stance, just wonder where he was last year when Romney could have used some back up.
