I see a lot of truth here, although I don’t view it as cynically as Andrew. Dems can both attempt to unify the country *and* force Rs to make a choice on Trumpism. Fracturing the GOP is not the same as dividing the country.

Maybe we are just doing the right thing. The author also says we are distracting from a less than stellar vaccine rollout - 8 days in. This is the type of disingenuous bs that put the conservative movement is the deap dark hole it's been in for at least 20 yeard.

I disagree. We really don't want the risk of Trump coming back as a successful authoritarian. However, if one believes this, isn't the solution to convict him? He's guilty. Acting together the GOP could prove this and attract back a lot of voters who are leaving now.
