Not "a president". "The president." That is not Trump. This is not complicated.

Do you disagree that Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution is being violated because impeachment only applies to "the President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States?” or do you have a different interpretation of this clear language?

Yes i disagree. That language is not clear, the broader context points the other way, as does original understanding, and English custom at the time.

"broader context" + "original understanding" + "English custom" = Don't believe the actual words in the Constitution.

No, you need to understand them as they were understood at the time. This is standard stuff.

Actually you don't. You need to read the words as they are written. I know I am beating a dead horse, but the word "President" is in the Constitution when it comes to impeachment, not "Ex-President."

Ok this is bad textualism. But even on textualism nothing says that's only who can be punished, it explains how the impeachment power is to be used against them, not the limits of impeachment jurisdiction.

Interesting. Do you think if Trump was still President that the Senate could convict, then sentence him to serve a jail sentence or worse if they find him guilty of treason? In other words, do you think the remedies granted to partisan Senators has no limit?

The conclusion of Article I, Section 3 quite explicitly says otherwise.

I'm off the bathe kiddos. At least we can conclude on a note of agreement.
