I continue to think this is a bad idea. It is also rather bad timing to introduce this right now, when so much of the defense of impeachment is premised upon it being a personal insult to the voters to deprive them of future choices.https://twitter.com/theblaze/status/1353968549807575041 …

Except that elections are rigged. Gerrymandering is the worst culprit. We need to rid ourselves of career politicians

If term limits existed, Trump would’ve been convicted and removed from his first impeachment. All these no votes on conviction are calculated thinking about future elections.

Term limits have always been at the hand of the voter. That we have a voting public that is ignorant of facts, and cant even comprehend how government works, bodes ill for any reform Congress. Electing people who believe conspiracy theories isn't helping.

Yeah, I was pro-term limits, once upon a time, but have come around to the idea that Congress is even more likely to cede all their power to the Executive if they have 0 reason to be invested in the institution. But open to persuasion

Cruz, of course, wants an all-powerful Trump in 2025, with a weak Congress, since the Republicans can't win the House and can barely hang on to the Senate.

Here's the thing with the complaint about career politicians: Thomas Jefferson & James Madison were also career politicians, for Pete's sake. But they went off and took care of their farms as often as they could; it kept them grounded. These guys today are wedded to DC.

Term limits would just mean different guys in DC, more dependent than ever on the unelected swamp. It's the unelected elements we should be limiting, not the elected ones.
