1. Rewatched the last Harry Potter film with the youngest & was reminded how the filmmakers - having done a fine job with the rest of Book 7 - royally screwed up the climactic fight between Harry & Voldemort.

4. One of the core tropes of fantasy is that good defeats evil not because it is strong, but because it is good. The setting of the final duel in the book elevates that; the film leaches it away.

Bad take. The final showdown in the last book was stupid. Harry making it publicly known that he was the MASTER of THE Elder Wand would have made him the target for every dark wizard and ambitious wizard. Makes no sense and at that point, he doesn't need backup or to inspire.

After all, Dumbledore didn't make it known when he was the Elder Wand's master. Wouldn't you have expected Harry to follow Dumbledore's example and trust his conclusion?
