I was at Hank Aaron's Hall of Fame induction in 1982. Happy Chandler spoke endlessly in the broiling sun. Frank Robinson had a long speech, too. Aaron-man of the hour-went last. His parents were melting. I assume he'd prepared a speech, but all he did was thank people & sit down.

Agree! Often overlooked is what a complete player he was, winning batting titles and gold gloves.

The guy just put up ridiculously solid numbers year after year after year. Even his home run numbers weren’t extremely notable most years, he just kept hitting 30-45 season after season.
