At lease one precedent with General who was impeached and convicted post resignation.

I think I disagree. To me, the Constitutional text indicates that removal from office (and therefore the holding of office) is a prerequisite of impeachment. The prohibition from holding future office seems like an "add-on" to situations in which impeachment already applies.
-
I.e., the text creating the impeachment power by its terms only applies to current office holders. The ability to bar from future office only applies where the impeachment power is otherwise authorized.

Late impeachment of Trump could preclude him from an appointed office, but I’m intrigued by the “electoral pardon” concept. The last section of Kalt’s 2014 article raises interesting points and foreshadows what we could see in 2023-2024.

Just once? Maybe we can make it an annual thing, a new tradition--think of the untiy we can inspire with a yearly Impeach Trump celebration!

As Peggy Noonan said today, there needs to be consequences. If the
@gop doesn't own this impeachment/force resignation . . . Than they will own this insurrection forever.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I would like to see it done but I’d also like to have a complete account of what happened. A proper investigation needs to be done. A full accounting needs to be on the record.
