There's a reason my tweet & thread linked to the unanimous SCOTUS Bridgegate decision - rejecting this syllogism - as well as other situations where this line of thinking ends up taking the criminal law to places you'd never tolerate it being applied against your friends.https://twitter.com/brianbeutler/status/1346115593464909824 …

The phrase "reasonable doubt" comes to mind for some reason, which may have some relevance in the criminal context. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2021/01/donald-trump-should-be-prosecuted-georgia-brad-raffensperger.html …pic.twitter.com/gPHfTN6oMp

Not a lawyer, but my observation has been that people want offending speech to be criminalized as "treason" and "sedition", without thinking that the legal sword has two edges. I don't know if GA law would say Trump's "offer" is criminal or not. That's up to their AG, I guess.

If my friends committed blatant election fraud I’d actually be ok with them being prosecuted.
