Anecdotal, but...I’ve been taking 3000 IUs of Vitamin D for months. I haven’t gotten Covid, but what really makes me happy is that I’ve also skipped the debilitating sinus infection and/or bronchitis that I get almost every fall.

It's a fat soluble vitamin, so it's comparatively easy to take to much compared to water soluble ones like C. Larger doses can also aggravate acid reflux easily, and for a while after you stop taking it. That's why I don't take D much anymore, but it is worth considering.

I've read a few of these stories, but none say whether the D deficiency is caused BY Covid, as the elevator D-dimer levels mentioned by this story are. It could be that no matter your level of D, after contacting Covid it is deleted as part of the disease process.

It didn't. I've been taking a multivitamin including D for months now, still got covid last month. But I survived it, though not without some time on the edge. So I guess there's that.
