Growing up in Chicago suburbs in the 70's in a place with mixed Sox and Cub fans, he was reason one to be a Sox fan. I never quite went that far, but loved seeing him play when I was a kid.
As a kid besides being a fan of his was the fact that the guy swung a 42 ounce bat !!!! RIP
