It’s a crying shame that he passed before being inducted into Cooperstown (and that Covid prevented a scheduled date in philly for the fans to turn out and see him have his number retired this year)

Many power hitters launch moon shots- always to their pull-side or straightaway center. Dick Allen hit the longest opposite field bomb ever, over the Ballantine scoreboard in Connie Mack stadium, 395 feet out in right center. Cleared the Longine Clock, then sailed into the night.
The man swung a 40 ounce bat. It was a thing of beauty to see him connect on a home run.
Rogelio Moret also passed away today. In 1974 he pitched a one hitter. The hit was a single by Dick Allen.
