Knocking candidates off the ballot by disqualifying signatures was how he got into office in the first place. Of course, it's easier to pull that off when it's Chicago & you have the ruling machine on your side.https://twitter.com/barnes_law/status/1330229478195388416 …

When @BarackObama wanted office, how did he do it? Showing the signatures of his opponent didn't match the signatures on file. https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-2007-04-04-0704030881-story.html …

It's also easier to do before the ballots are separated from the signatures. That was three weeks ago, after they were verified the first time, so best of luck to everyone on the "WE'RE GOING TO CHECK SIGNATUUUUUURES!!!!" team.

A bipartisan tradition, I believe. But I think there’s a distinction between bouncing a candidate who doesn’t follow the rules vs. invalidating votes after they are cast.

So many Obama fans have no clue about his history in IL politics. Occasionally talked platitudes. In reality he achieved nothing of note. Never introduced a single bill aimed at helping a soul. Laid low because he didn’t want a record of any kind, less he be held accountable

Don’t pretend You know anything about Illinois politics. Illinois has very strict ballot access rules. Alice Palmer got beat in a special Cong. Election and tried to get on the ballot late for her old seat. She wasn’t even close to having 700 legit sigs.

Nixon and Ford took the view that confidence in the process was more important than the result. But were they right? Or was that a mistake?
