You mean when the GOP takes the House of Reps and Biden is locked into a GOP Congress? If we are being honest, Election Twitter is just a bunch of ultra-progressives who are trying to wishcast their fantasies into existence.

I admit I am a political junkie who has had really great nights 2010 and 1994 and other more humbling times. Winning is much better but it does not happen all the time

Inherent in American politics since 1992 is that you win some and you lose some but you can rest assured that majorities are short-lived and voters are fickle and not ideological. How would you describe yourself ideologically?

YUP! I would add that
@DouglasLukasik and@varadmehta have a pretty good track record of living in reality and being honest about what they don't know (unlike Election Twitter).1 reply 0 retweets 7 likes -

Election Twitter definitely allowed itself to become an echo chamber this cycle.

I think part of it was just a lack of experience. Literally. A lot of Election Twitter is high school and college kids who've never voted or their first election was just 2016. That combined with letting their politics get in the way led to some fairly skewed perspectives.

ET is overall a very exciting development imo. The way
@MichaelBarone and I learned politics was hand-drawing maps so it is fun to see others taking a similar path. But there really is a part of this job that is just seeing a lot of elections.7 replies 1 retweet 12 likes -

Experience is the school of mankind, he will learn at no other. I spent my early twenties looking at the 1990 & 1992 election results like [waves hands] "how can this be?" Eventually, you learn how it can be.

Yeah, I learned the hard way from this election that what happened in 2016 (and 2018) will not predict the next zillion elections.

I still have the scars from 2012 teaching me to let go of things I learned in 2002.
