Great analogy. Dems need to figure this out.

That’s the problem with the left fringe... the won’t acknowledge that they can be allies but at the end of the day they are white people too- w/ the same privileges and advantages. By not learning about other cultures and insisting they know best, they are no diff than trumpers.

"States rights" sounds the same to black voters as it does to white voters. They react more negatively because they won't be the ones holding the whip.

Uh, I think Republicans knew what "States Rights" meant to white and black voters and all understood the same thing, it wasn't an accident.https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/exclusive-lee-atwaters-infamous-1981-interview-southern-strategy/ …

That’s a historically silly analogy. Rs *didn’t care* hie it sounded to Black voters who, after 1960, were no longer part of their base in any way. They only cared about how it sounded to white voters. Dems *do* care, but screwed up because party is cross pressured. Rs aren’t.

Tbh I think a lot of white voters also associate “socialism” with despotic left wing regimes.

All socialism is despotic. Despotism doesn't necessarily require an authoritarian figurehead and military coups.
