If you want to get Trump for essentially political offenses in office, either impeach him (tried, failed) or vote him out of office (tried, succeeded). We don't prosecute outgoing leaders here over their official acts, & bar to start doing so should be VERY high.

My argument against the John Edwards prosecution - much as I emotionally enjoyed it - was that you should not prosecute your opponents under legal theories you wouldn't want used against your friends.
