Releasing vote data while the voting is going on has a problem similar to extended early voting: people voting based on different information. It additionally allows psyop efforts to talk people into thinking one side has won.

Since the US Government is required to guarantee each state a Republican form of government, Congress at minimum would seem to have some oversight authority over how those governments are determined.
