I confess I have some biases about elections that go beyond partisanship. I hate extended early voting, slow vote counts, runoffs, recounts, jungle primaries & ranked-choice voting. Have everybody vote at once between two choices. Count the votes. Declare a winner. Move on.

There are countless jobs that require voters to be away from their district for extended periods of time including entertainment, truck drivers, and sales. A 4-day window would only capture a very small percentage of those people.

I live in a county of almost 4.8 million people. 4 days sounds like murderous long lines, part of what early voting was meant to prevent. Why the opposition to longer early voting period?

The objection is that, with too long a time period, some news could come out after people have already voted. Not all voters will have access to the same info. Another example from this year is that we had a presidential debate after millions of people had already voted.
