Maybe. Douglass after 1876 is a voice of bitter remonstrance against the moral failure of Reconstruction. That can be a downer, but a powerful one. End with a plea to the next generation to continue the work.

LMM had said before he did ‘Hamilton’ he had considered ‘Team of Rivals’. I am wondering if that is in the back of his mind if he plans to do a sequel.

Lincoln or Grant would also be great. But from the perspective of the story of America as Miranda wants to tell it, Douglass would be the most powerful protagonist for that period.
