Somebody ask her about expanding the House, which actually *is* supposed to expand with the population but hasn't in a century.https://twitter.com/RichLowry/status/1320913054662594563 …

Nancy Pelosi suggesting we may need to expand the Supreme Court to account for the growth in U.S. population since the mid-19th century is completely hilarious https://twitter.com/chrisjdmartin/status/1320886334412771330 …

Expanding the House would be a good move & not necessarily benefit either party (I think it might very modestly benefit Democrats). But the people it hurts are current House incumbents, so Pelosi is not gonna support it.

Regardless of the party it may or may not benefit- a massive expansion of the house I think will dilute the voices of polarization. While there will still be radicals, my gut says the general tendency will be more moderate candidates becoming representatives.

With a massive expansion, each seat becomes less expensive to compete for as well, giving greater access to people to compete of their own accord with less (though still present) big money being split among a lot of seats to back.

800k people per congressmen is too many. I'm all for it.

Same. I think other western democratic forms of govt average in the mid-5 figures (like 40k-70k) per seat in their equivalent chambers. Not every House Rep needs a permanent desk on the floor of the House imo (since we aren’t fitting >1k people in the room).

Many states have large Houses, the people elected are mostly dummies and it remains gerrymandered. Still comes down to the quality of the politician, which at the moment seems, very, very low.

It's odd that Congress has never heard of the Apportionment Act. I wonder how it came into being? 🤔🤔🤔

It would definitely benefit Democrats, by increasing the size of the electoral college (diluting the power of the 100 votes corresponding to Senate seats).

It would reduce the likelihood of electoral college / popular vote splits.
