Elections have consequences. If the Dems wish to retaliate in kind, that is entirely legitimate. Blowing up the 9-member Court to take a step Joe Biden has described as a corrupt power grab, which was decisively rejected in 1937 as a threat to a free people, is not "in kind."

Power should be exercised to do good, unless a norm exists to constrain it. No historical norm existed to constrain Republicans. Whereas the experience of 1937 set a bright-line historical norm against abuse of power that we all learned in grade school.

Did you read Steve Calabresi’s 2017 manifesto re expansion of the federal courts? All except SCOTUS. Also, as I’m sure you know, plenty of Conservatives argued for shrinking SCOTUS by refusing to confirm a single Clinton nominee. Voters didn’t “vote” on any of this.
