I don't get the resistance. The defense puts the players wherever it wants (except for pitcher and catcher). The batter tries to hit it somewhere else. That's just baseball.

Seriously. All the complaining about the shift is from hitters who think bunting is beneath them & fans who think it’s boring. If everyone started bunting down the opposite baseline, either the shift would vanish overnight or we’d have a dozen guys hit .400
