A majority of the Senate decided against the Garland nomination. Once that decision was made, a floor vote would just have been for show, anyway. Would you be overjoyed to have a Democratic Senate majority use McConnell's Senate majority leadership be their model for how to treat the minority party? If not overjoyed, at least deeply satisfied that the Senate was being run fairly and in good faith? If not, why?

I think this claim is objectively wrong. There were multiple Republican senators who conspicuously refused to say that they would vote against Garland. Their statements to the press opposing hearings cannot fairly be retconned into surefire votes against his confirmation.

It was quite clear at the time that this was a collective decision for which the whole caucus could & would be responsible.
