A majority of the Senate decided against the Garland nomination. Once that decision was made, a floor vote would just have been for show, anyway. This entirely sets aside the fact that if Garland was not confirmed that it would have left the option for the president to appoint another Justice. By failing to hold the vote and vote Garland down it blocked the entire nomination process.

Not true. Obama could have withdrawn him & sent another nominee at any time. Other presidents did when faced with this situation.
