Funny story: The Supreme Court of Canada heard a huge case in the early 80s, and was asked if they'd let cameras in. They said yes, imagining someone with a fairly small setup. The reporters had cables snaked everywhere and a bunch of lights and cameras. 1/

The judges were annoyed, but they said something to the effect of "Well, we said cameras were allowed. Guess that's what we get for not specifying." They treated it like a precedent. (I just find this adorable.) Cameras are still allowed at the SCC, but not lower courts. 2/2
