I’m not really one to draw up litmus tests for who is conservative in general. But I can’t get past this one. It’s the whole ballgame.

It's not an unreasonable one. The basic debate is that not voting for Trump = a conclusion that a Biden Admin is no worse, when it is. But voting for Trump = a vote for a man who is manifestly unfit for the office.

Serious question as someone who only very reluctantly voted for him in 2016. What are the counterbalancing grave concerns? I get that he’s a boor and a terrible ambassador for conservatism. But weighed against conservative accomplishments of his term, what’s the counter argument?

We vote for politicians to advance our ideas through policy. Despite his manifest flaws, has he not done this to a greater extent than any recent Republican president?

If someone can just manage to reign in McConnell, *all of this goes away*. It's like pointing a gun at someone and then freaking out when they pat their holster and glare.

That doesn't even begin with the real concern, which is that it will lead to retaliatory court-packing and states potentially refusing to acknowledge Court decisions within their borders. That, to me, is more worrisome than pretty much anything else he outlines.

Yup. And McConnell is poised with his finger ready to flick the first domino and set it all in motion, even though everyone with half a brain can see that it will lead to endless retaliation that will weaken our democracy.
