Nobody in the conservative legal mainstream today defends Plessy v Ferguson. Even critics of Brown v Board of Ed's reasoning typically argue in favor of something that looks more like Justice Harlan's lone dissent in Plessy.

Ask any selection of Americans today - judges, legal academics, politicians, citizens - if they agree with Harlan that : "Our constitution is color-blind, and neither knows nor tolerates classes among citizens." The people who disagree won't be conservatives.
