Not being a Jew, I have no firm opinions on who is or isn't a good Jew. For the same reason, I've written whole columns on why I won't judge what is or isn't true Islam. You haven't cited any reason why I *wouldn't* think Dorothy Day was a faithful Catholic.
Ok, fair enough. But you can resolve the issue of Dorothy Day yourself—do you think she was a faithful Catholic or not? Today, do you think liberal or leftist Catholics who oppose your politics are faithful Catholics?
That depends on whether they advocate positions that conflict with authoritative teachings of the Catholic Church.
I agree. As I said earlier, it’s like she’s a (lovely, kind, maternal) baker of a horrible cake. The particular ingredients she used in that cake (and the fact that she is a nice person) are less important than warning the public that her cake is awful.
