Not terribly surprising - this is Trump - but note that there is no legal way in which they could have obtained this information.https://twitter.com/susannecraig/status/1310325440020713472 …

Just Posted: The NYT has obtained the president’s tax return information for thousands of personal and corporate returns going back decades. Here’s our first story. "All of the information The Times obtained was provided by sources with legal access to it." That narrows it down to people who had to break the law to leak them.

Anyway, Trump using every trick in the book to pay nearly no taxes is both legal and totally in character for what we expect of Donald Trump. It's who he is. It's who everybody already knows he is.

You got the goods to show that Trump committed tax fraud, I'm there. But there's nothing I can see in this NYT piece that gets you there. https://twitter.com/marceelias/status/1310332039871320065 …

I mean, im no tax lawyer, but arent the litany of misrepresentations beyond legal tax avoidance and likely to be illegal?

That's why court in NY is after his financials from his accounting firm. They believe he's been doing things like under-valuing his properties when it comes to IRS & over-valuing the same when it comes to obtaining loans. Then there's the insurance fraud... & other irregularities

He’s not wealthy. That’s the point. He doesn’t make money; he loses it. Where does it come from?

I mean, we spent an entire GOP primary season of him going "lol of course I donated to dems in NY, that's how you play the game and screw the system to ur benefit", and I don't see any change to that argument here

Trump's biggest trick to not paying taxes is to lose as much money as possible by making shitty business decisions.
