We are, thankfully, not the Weimar Republic. Our institutions, & our democratic, liberal, republican & constitutional norms & institutions much older & stronger. Even the worst in our system aren't Hitler. But the people who want to tear all that down aren't on the Right.

And everybody knows that. Milbank knows it, which is why he just files a newspaper column & goes about his day, rather than packing his go bag & buying shotgun shells.

Life would be so much easier for you if Trump would stop saying stuff.

I'm old enough to remember when the mention of "Hitler" in a debate/thread ended the argument.

Exactly. This is how the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) came to power. I find these Nazi Germany analogies idiotic but if we absolutely have to go down that street Biden resembles von Hindenburg more than Trump resembles Hitler.

The call it Silent Revolution. On the evening of January 27th, von Papen, Meissen and Hitler sat together with Hindenburg, who was terminally ill by then. He didn't resist and hadn't no power left to resist and signed anything. Anything after January 30th 1933 is sad history.

Is this not... what's happening now? I bet Trump doesn't personally give a shit about restricting Mongolian grad students but Stephen Miller does.pic.twitter.com/AvL7NK1GEq
