But Reagan wasn’t moronically and cynically attacked for wearing one. Which, of course, is the point @dandrezner is making.

It was like one afternoon worth of Tweets on a slow news day. Meanwhile, we were told for 9 years that any criticism of him for anything was racist. It was a racist stereotype to accuse him of golfing too much. Golfing! The whitest activity known to man!

Ah no, but lots of resentment here, huh? Plenty of ways to criticize him without being racist. But the criticism were that he was *other*, ie, too “informal”’, not “respectful”, etc. And best one—he count realky soesk too well without the assistance of a tele-prompter. The

He was elected entirely on the basis of speeches, having no governing or executive experience. It was entirely fair to challenge that http://baseballcrank.com/archives2/2008/08/politics_the_jo_1.php …

Also, Michelle Obama was a lawyer for U of Chicago hospital!!! A hospital administration attorney!!! Yeah, “medicare for all“ advocates and SEIU just love hospital admin lawyers. Like one can’t imagine a **less** leftwing lawyer except...you.

Like how? Hospital admin is not a “leftist” field. If you told me she was a labor side labor lawyer or a civil liberties or civil rights lawyer or a public interest/environmental lawyer—yeah liberal or leftwing very very likely. Hospital admin?

It was a political sinecure, or at least that's what everyone at UofC would tell you (because I was there at exactly that time, 2005-2008). That's why Dan mentioned being in hock to the Daley machine.

Jeff—this is Dan’s invention. I didn’t say she was a “right wing lawyer.” Read what he linked to—*he* called her, absurdly, a *leftwing* lawyer. The Daley machine is not the *leftwing* of Chicago politics! As you well know.

I think the nature of our disagreement here is about framing. Yes, there are radical leftists in Chicago, relative to the standard left/liberal types who run the city and trade in its normal graft. But -- relative to the country as a whole, that's *still* left-wing. Bubbles!

Also, Obama himself was deep in with those radicals, too.

Yes, I’ve dealt with these stupid arguments too. Yeah, “deep in.” Like really deep. Andrew McCarthy thought that Bill Ayers actually wrote his first book—evidence, not so much. Also, he wasn’t smart enough to write it. Smart stuff, Dan.
