Oh, it is absolutely the case that the electorate elected a Republican Senate in 2014, 2016, & 2018. Counting popular vote that way just doesn't make sense.

Notice that you're writing "the electorate" and not "the American People" here.

The point in all this is that "the American People" and the electorate in a given Senate election, are two different things.
