Because Republicans are disingenuous about what they want on the Court. They don't want neutral arbiters of law. They want judges to tear down decades old legislation, including New Deal and Great Society laws, they could never muster popular support to eliminate otherwise.

The Right showed its hand earlier this year with Gorsuch, expressing outrage on the Bostock case because he was a textualist after all. You guys want partisan hacks, not neutral arbiters. Whenever you're scratched just a bit, you give the game away as to what you really want.

Tell us with a straight face, that McConnel wouldn't have insisted "Biden Rule" bound the Senate from filling the vacancy for 342 days in 2016 if Dems had the majority, & if Dems held the Senate now, he wouldnt insist on filling the vacancy & you wouldn't have defended both timespic.twitter.com/KlU0IKg9qS

So we are now admitting this is about raw power? I was convinced it was that you can only confirm justices in an election year when the Senate is the same party as the pres and the year ends w/ a 0 and the avg temp in Utah is above 79 degrees and the Red Sox miss the playoffs??

Whatever. If it’s just power, it’s just power. Who gives a shit about your schoolyard arguments. Dems will just have to get power and use it however the hell they want.
