If McConnell gets replacements for Scalia, Kennedy, *and* Ginsburg through the Senate within 4 years, we may look back on the 2014 elections as one of the most consequential in American history.

1992 was really the election that led us all here. My alternate sci-fi history Earth Prime history has Bush winning his second term and almost none of the rest of this happens.

OTOH, what happens if Gore prevails in 2000? 9/11 happens, but most likely not Iraq.

Right. I think Gore does Afghanistan, but not Iraq; maybe ends up one term. You get a Hillary run at some point, tho, which still opens the door to some weird outcomes. (But not Trump.)

Right. A Gore win/scenario almost guarantees Senator Clinton running in 08 instead of elevating Obama (read: Ted Kennedy being tasked to identify *an* Obama, who ended up being Obama).

Gore gets impeached. Partisan blame for 9/11 was diffused because of the transfer of power. It would have been concentrated in the 9th year of Democratic rule.
