That’s not a “but slavery” position, and my comments are in response to the Wisc single issue voters. Look, the GOP wanted to totally own the pro life position. Mission accomplished. But that has a cost: Removes incentives to negotiate. All or nothing sometimes gets “nothing”

Actually, it is. GOP in the 1850s united on not expanding slavery. Didn't demand abolitionist purity. But Dems were so uncompromisingly for expansion that they left anyone who wasn't 100% pro-slavery nowhere to go.
