Fundamental difference in dynamics: we're counting on the entire Republican party to restrain Trump, but we're counting on Biden to restrain the entire Democratic party.

Really? I thought this was a brilliant way of stating what a lot of people think. You can lol all you want, but there are many people who feel this way and for you to just disregard those people as being Trumpers doesn't help conservatism one bit.

I’m sorry but we’ve seen what 4 years of “constraint” looks like from Republicans. Nada. So people can feel how they want but professional pundits making absurd arguments the fly in the face of observable reality merits disregarding.

You're still making my point: with Rs,. the problem is Trump, and all the arguments against the party are just "you're not stopping Trump." With Ds, the problem is the party itself, and all the arguments for Biden are "he'll stop his party."

I think you completely ignore the fact that the split in the Dems is between a larger moderate wing and a smaller radical wing. Synema and Manchin aren't suddenly going to become M4A advocates

No. The problem is clearly the party that is so fundamentally broken that they would put someone like that in power.

Newsflash, it's Trump's party. If you think he's the problem, then you think the party's the problem. They rolled over, and acquiesced. The last four years happened, no matter howuch you want to forget them.

The problem is the whole party. They all bent the knee and kissed the ring like cowards. Either defending him or claiming ignorance at every turn

I just disagree the median dem Senator is not far from Biden. He won the primary in a landslide

Even beyond, the median, to get things done, you'll need Manchin, Tester, Jones (I'M AN OPTIMIST!). I'm a very progressive person myself, but I'm also pragmatic and a realist. (And Kamala isn't some crazy radical either, jeez.)

Trumps approval rating disproves the notion that Trump is the problem and not the majority of R voters

Your party's legislators sold out their putative ideals so fast to curry favor with Trump voters that this "what about the Dems" conversation seems positively unhinged. The problem with the Rs isn't Trump; the problem is that they're all spineless and/or compromised.
