Fundamental difference in dynamics: we're counting on the entire Republican party to restrain Trump, but we're counting on Biden to restrain the entire Democratic party.

This is madness....Ocare was a hyper hyper hyper watered down something which made no one happy and was still poison and everyone changed a little bit of it nontheless. It is the opposite of the broad leftwing agenda the far-left wanted.

Yeah—health insurance for more people is definitely the great worry. Next thing you know, everybody might have it and classical liberalism will never recover from the blow. Hayek didn’t worry so much about this, but he was a squish!

Obamacare aka Romneycare aka Heritage Foundationcare that was specifically designed to appeal to Republicans but didn’t get any Republican votes because McConnell vowed to vote against whatever Obama proposed in order to make him a one term President

I mean if Obamacare is your example of too-left-to-bear policy, then Biden isn't your man, whether he "restrains" his party or not - he's running as a proud champion of it!

Conservatives didn’t think the idea behind Obamacare was bad until obama proposed it. Basically in 3 years you’ll say whatever moderate policy Biden passes was some leftist imposition showing how terrible he is

There was a BRIEF window in the middle of blog comments in late 2009 where a FEW conservatives would say, “well I don’t want ANY health care reform!” but for the most part gingrichian/dolian concepts of “reform” were essentially mandates to buy private insurance.
