Your side of the argument is considerably weighed down by the embarrassing paucity of arguments in defense the electoral college. It's hard to accept the legitimacy of the EC when it's seemingly founded on dumb math about the populations of NY & CA, among other basic errors
-
In every other context, established rule of law that cannot be defended on its merits is widely disrespected and flouted. Why expect different treatment for the EC

But there’s an actual moral/democratic content here! If we just had an old rule that people who’s last name started with S got two votes that would be...not defensible even if it were the “rules of the game”
-
Also, again, there’s an *actual* long history here to reckon with of all the various ways the “rules” have been drawn up to explicitly disfavor black voters, which have been struck down under one person one vote.

And the reason you keep getting dismissed is you're talking past people who say the rules are bad! You're not making a convincing case for the EC being better than changing to a popular vote.

The reason that Republicans don't support a system where the most popular candidate in the country is elected President of the country is because there are more Democrats than Republicans and they'd never win.

Glad to see you guys finally coming around to support affirmative action, at least as long as it's for rural white people
